7 Ways to Sneak In More Water

Struggle to meet your daily water intake of 9

Are you drinking enough water each day? 1.5-2L or 9 glasses per day is ideal.

Studies show that even mild dehydration, a 1.5% loss of normal water volume in the body triggers headaches, fatigue, constipation, impaired concentration and worsened people’s mood. No thanks! So let’s sip up and ensure you’re hydrated, happy and healthy!

Drink Water
  • Remember for every caffeinated drink you consume your water intake is depleted by about 1 glass. So you'll need to add 1 glass per coffee, tea, energy drink etc

  • If you engage in any activity that makes you sweat, you need to drink extra water to replace what you’ve lost.

  • Warmer weather also pumps up the body’s need for water.

Here are a few sneaky ways to increase your water intake and hydration daily.

Drink water

I know it sound too easy. But it really is that simple. Drink water to make sure you meet your daily requirement of 1.5-2L or 9 glasses per day.

Flavour it

If you don’t like water then this one is for you.

Try adding chunks of strawberries, apple, orange, lemon, lime, cucumber or mint leaves into your water to infuse flavour.

Eat fruit + veggies

You can easily increase you water intake from switching your cheese and crackers to a salad or smoothie.

Roughly 20% of our daily water comes from food but certain fruit and vegetables contain loads more water in them.

Cucumber = 96% Celery = 95% Tomatoes = 94% Rockmelon = 90%

Zucchini = 95% Strawberries = 92% Spinach = 91% Broccoli = 90%

Eggplant = 92% Pineapple = 87% Apple = 84% Capsicum = 92%

Tomatoes =94% water

Sptriz it with a bit of fizz

Sparkling water is still water, just carbonated. I recommend San Pellegrino or Capi soda water as they come in glass bottles (so no plastic nasties) and they are high in minerals. Or try making it yourself with filtered water and a SodaStream.

Have a herbal tea

Sipping on herbal tea like lemongrass, ginger, peppermint, cinnamon, chamomile, mint, lemon or rosehip also counts to your water daily intake. So add in a herbal tea to your repertoire.

Get equipped

This one is so easy it is ridiculous! Make sure you keep a filled bottle on your desk at work, in your car, in your bag and on your kitchen counter at home. And don’t just have it as a decoration…drink up and stay hydrated!

FYI - water is essential to keep your brain and metabolism sharp, plus your body cleansed.

Water assists oxygen and nutrients to be effectively carried around the body to flush out toxins, to increase energy levels and ensure good digestion.

Lifestyle change

Drinking enough water promotes healthy skin, a good mood and mental focus. The best thing about drinking loads of water is that people often confuse hunger with dehydration so drink up as it should help you lose weight or keep it off!!
